ACTOR Beto Kusyairy revealed that he suffers from slipped discs, which limits his physical abilities, especially during action scenes.
The actor, whose real name is Nur Kusyairy Zakuan Osman, admitted that the condition developed after years of neglecting old injuries.
"I'm 44 now. Movement isn't what it used to be, and old injuries are catching up. After an examination, I discovered two slipped discs causing my back pain," he told 'Berita Harian' during a filming session for 'Gayong' at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base in Sungai Besi recently.
Despite his condition, he managed to perform stunts and silat scenes safely.
"The choreography was excellent and safety precautions were top-notch. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries — just minor bruises and cuts," he said.
Beto also expressed initial hesitation about portraying the late Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman, founder of Silat Gayong, in the biographical film.
"I worried about the reception from the community and Datuk Meor's family. However, after discussions with the producers, I felt reassured."
'Gayong', directed by Faisal Ishak, chronicles the origins of Silat Gayong and is set for release nationwide in May, 2025.
The film also stars Nabila Huda, Syafie Naswip, Indonesian action star Yayan Ruhian, and Thai actor Chevanon Phukaokaew.
