KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Emma Maembong recently opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Muhammad Shazli Azhar, confirming their separation was amicable and free from external interference.
"If it's personal, I won't share it," Emma told Berita Harian.
She added: "There's no third party involved."
Emma, whose real name is Fatimah Rohani Ismail, emphasised her focus on her children and career.
"My life revolves around my boys and work. I don't have time for anything else.
"Even on TikTok, I skip anything about me for my mental health. Negative comments are pointless," she said.
The actress admitted that like anyone, she had her own dreams, but they did not unfold as planned.
"I believe everything is in God's hands. If it's meant to be, it will happen.
"God blessed me with sons, and perhaps they're my heroes for life," she said.
Emma revealed that her co-parenting relationship with Shazli remains harmonious.
Both are equally involved in raising their children.
"Alhamdulillah, it's the same as before. Just today, my ex-husband had ice cream with the kids.
"We tried to make it work, but when it wasn't meant to be, we decided to part ways amicably."
She also shared her belief that divorce doesn't have to be messy or hostile.
"There's no need for hatred or blocking each other. A father is a hero to his children, and a mother is their superwoman.
"Our children shouldn't be victims," she said.
Emma added that she and Shazli agreed on co-parenting without legal custody battles.
The actress, who announced her divorce on Oct 7, married Shazli in 2020, and together they share two sons.
