#SHOWBIZ: No third party in AR Rahman's divorce from wife Banu

KUALA LUMPUR: The recent divorce of Indian Music Maestro, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu has shocked his fans.

The end of their almost three decades of marriage surprised many because they were seen as an ideal couple.

Rahman yesterday expressed his sadness through the X platform.

"We were hoping to get to the 30-year mark, but alas it did not happen.

"Thank you for your kindness and respect for our privacy," Rahman wrote.

After news of the divorce emerged, there were rumours that a third person was involved and this was largely because Rahman's bass player, Mohini Dey also announced that her marriage had ended.

Banu said in a news report that her divorce was due to health problems.

She said that this caused her to move to Mumbai to seek treatment.

"That's why I need space between us. I'm begging YouTubers and the media not to say bad things about my ex-husband."He is the best man in the world and a precious gem.

"May God bless us all," she said.

Rahman and Banu got married in 1995 and were blessed with three children.
