KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Hafiz Suip, 34, has issued an apology following the release of a video showing him in a heated altercation with an individual in Kuching, Sarawak.
Hafiz, whose full name is Mohd Hafiz Mohd Suip, has since met with the individual involved and they have reconciled.
"I acknowledge my mistake and apologise for my actions that upset the 'uncle'," he said in a video posted by his friend, Uthman Daud.
In the video, Hafiz is seen shaking hands with the man and even kissing his hand, and by the end, they are seen embracing.
Uthman also provided a detailed account of the incident on Facebook. He explained that it occurred while they were on their way to buy a gift hamper for a fan's family.
"During the drive, a vehicle was tailgating us, leading to provocations from both sides. The situation escalated when the driver blocked our path and stopped our car. Both parties exited their vehicles in anger.
"Suddenly, the driver sprayed Hafiz's face with pepper spray. I tried to defuse the situation, but the driver continued to attack Hafiz. In the chaos, I was also elbowed and sprayed, which made it hard for me to breathe, so I retaliated after seeing the driver's aggression," Uthman explained.
Uthman has since removed the video from social media due to ongoing investigations and advice from authorities.
Earlier, a video showing Hafiz being punched by a man went viral on X (formerly Twitter). In the footage, Hafiz is seen striking the front bumper of a car before being punched by the presumed owner of the vehicle.
