KUALA LUMPUR: A video allegedly singer Hafiz Suip gets in a fight with a man on the road this afternoon has gone viral on social media.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Sarawak.
According to Buletin TV3, Uthman Daud, who was identified as the singer's friend, shared an explanation of what happened on his Facebook page.
The duo was heading to a shop to buy a gift before visiting a fan's family after Friday prayers.
"During the journey, a vehicle followed too close to us. This led to provocations from both sides," he was quoted as saying on Buletin TV3.
He said the situation escalated when the driver began to block and stop his car.
Uthman said both parties were extremely angry and got out of their vehicles.
"The driver suddenly sprayed Hafiz's face with pepper spray. I tried to defuse the situation, but the driver continued to rush towards Hafiz.
"While I was trying to manage the situation, I was also hit and sprayed with pepper spray, making it hard for me to breathe.
"I ended up throwing a punch after seeing how aggressive he was," he said.
Uthman said they then lodged a police report and sought medical treatment at the hospital.
