KUALA LUMPUR: Famous K-pop agency BigHit Music has announced that TXT leader Soobin will temporarily step away from group activities to focus on his health.
The news of the popular South Korean idol's status was shared recently via a statement on the fan platform Weverse, Teen Vogue reported.
According to BigHit, Soobin recently showed signs of illness and sought medical attention.
"The medical staff advised that he needs sufficient time to rest and recover," the statement read.
While Soobin initially wanted to continue his schedule, the company decided to prioritise his well-being.
As a result, Soobin, 23, will not participate in upcoming group events, including the MAMA Awards, Japan fan meetings, ACT: PROMISE Encore in Japan, a Shanghai fan signing event, and other year-end activities. "We will fully support Soobin's recovery so he can return to fans in good health," the company added.
Soobin also addressed fans, known as MOAs, through a handwritten letter on Weverse.
"I'm sorry for surprising you with this sudden news," he wrote, as translated by Soompi.
He acknowledged his struggles with maintaining his physical condition but expressed gratitude for the encouragement he has received from fans and his bandmates.
"To continue being with you for a long time, I need this time to reorganise myself," Soobin shared.
He reassured fans that their happiness remains his top priority and promised to recover quickly.
"I'll return in good health so you won't have to wait long," he said.
The announcement comes shortly after the release of TXT's seventh EP, The Star Chapter: Sanctuary, on Nov 4.
Fans have expressed an outpouring of support for Soobin on social media, wishing him a speedy recovery.
