SHOWBIZ: Ahmad Nawab laid to rest

GOMBAK: The late Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab, 92, was safely buried today at the Raudathul Sakinah Phase 2 Cemetery at 11am.

Earlier, prayers were held at Surau Tarbiyah, Taman Melewar, at 10am.

The celebrated composer's body was then escorted to the cemetery by family, friends, and fans.

About 200 people, including prominent artistes and loved ones, gathered to pay their last respects to the music legend.

Among those present were Datuk Chuari Selamat, Datuk ND Lala, Lukhman S, Salimah Mahmood, Fredo, and singers mentored by the late maestro, such as Shidee, Siti Fairuz, and Ramlah Ram.

Several attendees had visited his residence last night before returning this morning to bid farewell.

After the talkin and prayers, family members and friends sprinkled rose water on his grave as a final gesture of respect.

Ahmad Nawab, whose full name was Ahmad Khan Nawab Khan, passed away peacefully at his Taman Melewar home at 3.15pm yesterday.
