#SHOWBIZ: Ramlah Ram: Ahmad Nawab treated me like his own child

"People say he's fierce, but to me, he was funny in his strictness," shared singer Ramlah Ram, reflecting on her relationship with the late Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab.

For Ramlah, Ahmad Nawab was more than just a legendary composer who helped her establish a career in music during the 1980s.

He was a father figure who guided her with care and discipline.

"He treated me like his own child," Ramlah told Berita Harian.

"When I first arrived in Kuala Lumpur, he was there to help and support me. His kindness and guidance left a lasting impression.

"Now that he's gone, I find myself reflecting on all those moments – especially the times he acted as my guardian angel," she added.

Speaking to reporters after paying her respects at Ahmad Nawab's residence in Taman Melewar, Batu Caves, Ramlah, 59, described him as a responsible and dedicated mentor.

She noted that others, like fellow artiste Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, share her sentiments about his generosity and care.

However, Ramlah expressed regret over not being able to visit Ahmad Nawab during his final days.

"I didn't know he was unwell because he was very private.

"When I wanted to visit, he didn't allow it, and I respected his wishes. Still, I deeply regret not seeing him one last time," she said.

Ramlah also praised Ahmad Nawab's unique touch as a composer.

"His music had a soul unlike anyone else's. Every song he created resonates deeply with me.

"He produced dozens of albums for me, and those memories are priceless," she said.
