SINGER Elyana, whose real name is Erneelya Elyana Emrizal, continues to embrace life with optimism after recovering from stage-four lymphoma cancer.
Known for her sweet smile and energetic performances, Elyana revealed that she was declared cancer-free two years ago.
"Alhamdulillah, the doctor confirmed I was cancer-free. However, I still need 12 sessions of chemotherapy to prevent a relapse.
"For now, I've been advised to complete four cycles before further evaluation," she told BH Online.
Despite her recovery, Elyana admitted it's challenging to determine her overall health condition.
"Living with cancer changes your perspective. Some days I feel fine; other days I don't.
"I've come to terms with my destiny and know how to handle myself if I fall ill again."
The 37-year-old singer also reflected on the evolving entertainment industry, particularly the significant role of social media.
While she acknowledges its benefits in promoting her career, Elyana expressed some concerns.
"Netizens often judge without empathy, and their harsh feedback can affect mental health.
"As a former cancer patient, I know the importance of staying emotionally healthy.
"If it gets too much, I'd rather stay away for my own well-being."
Elyana also noted how social media amplifies gossip.
"In the past, rumours were subtle. Now, everything is exposed with pictures and videos.
"It's overwhelming, so I use social media only for essentials."
On her career, Elyana has just released a deeply personal single titled 'Bungkam' and hopes that it will resonate with listeners.
Written during a difficult period when her weight dropped to just 35kg, the song narrates her lowest moments.
"This song holds significant meaning for me," she said.
Elyana first disclosed her cancer diagnosis in 2017 during the fourth season of 'Gegar Vaganza', where she was eliminated in the fifth week.
Her resilience and strength continue to inspire fans.
