Baby Shima files police report over alleged death threat on social media

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and actress Nor Ashima Ramli, known as Baby Shima, has filed a police report over a death threat she allegedly received on social media.

In an Instagram post, the 32-year-old shared a screenshot of a comment from a Facebook user, who reportedly expressed displeasure about her presence in Sarawak. Along with the criticism, the individual is said to have issued a death threat.

Baby Shima has faced criticism in the past for her provocative social media posts and has previously received death threats from an unknown source.

The dangdut singer is scheduled to perform at the 'Motac Bersama Komuniti Sibu' event today at the Azman Hashim Community Sports Complex in Sibu Jaya, Sarawak.

Following the threat, Baby Shima lodged a police report in Sibu early this morning, accompanied by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

"Thank you to Minister Tiong for your concern and for coming to the Sibu police station at 2am. It was truly unexpected. Thank you very much!" Baby Shima said.

The artist, known for blending R&B, jazz, and soul, has a large following across Southeast Asia.

Tiong is the Bintulu Member of Parliament and the Dudong assemblyman for Sibu district.
