With its breathtaking view and the comfortable staycation, a new hotel in Genting Highlands has Hanna Hussein hooked
A MISTY climate welcomes our
arrival at Genting Highlands, an iconic hill holiday destination located 1,828 metres above sea level. This is my favourite weekend getaway to escape the heat.
This weekend, my family and I are staying at a new hotel, Gloria Residences Ion Delemen Genting Highlands, located less than 10 minutes from the Genting Highlands Resort main entertainment city.
If you are driving, parking is free. The car park building is linked to Gloria Ion Delemen Hotel, so guests staying at Gloria Residences have to take an elevator up to level 7 where the link bridge is located.
You will pass a beautiful landscaped garden to the next building, where you have to head back down to the lobby on the ground floor for check-in at the residences.
FAMILY STAY
It doesn’t take long before we are ushered to our family suite. Our apartment suite is spacious!
Complete with a living area and a fully equipped kitchen — you can cook, even on a short stay! It feels homely and welcoming.
The space is elegantly decorated with modern furniture and decor, offering guests a fresh, contemporary vibe.
What I love most is that the suite has a balcony with a breathtaking mountain view enveloped by mist.
The family suite has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and a high window with lots of natural lighting.
The other room has a double-decker bed — queen bed below and single bed on the top — which can fit up to three adults.
However, the second bedroom doesn’t have a window, which is a bummer. There are two huge bathrooms in the apartment. One is attached to the master bedroom while the other is situated next to the second bedroom. Both are equally huge and clean.
There is also WiFi service as well as complimentary drinking water daily throughout the stay.
For those who want to explore the entertainment hub in Genting Highlands Resort, there is a complimentary shuttle to and from the hotel to First World Plaza, Just make sure to book a seat and be on time.
This will not only save you money by not having to pay for parking at the resort but you will also save time! Definitely a value for-money vacation that mum and dad should opt for.
BREAKFAST AT HOME
Gloria Ion Delemen has a few restaurants but the Home Restaurant, which is tucked in a cosy corner on level 2 of the residences, offers all-day dining with a fine selection of Malaysian home-cooked recipes.
This is where we have our breakfast daily.
Home offers affordable meal choices for guests. You can add on breakfast in your stay for just RM25 per person, and be spoilt by choices of food, including a variety of hot and spicy oden, assorted noodles, porridges and pan fried carrot cake.
The restaurant offers ample seating too. My favourite spot is by the floor-to-ceiling window which offers a majestic scenery view.
I make sure to come early to get the best spot to see the sky changes colour every morning while having a cuppa.
Home also offers a la carte choices for lunch and dinner. Prices can go as low as RM15 per dish. This is cheap for the premium accommodation. There’s also the Hot Pot Porridge set which is RM35 per person.
