MORE than 120,000 visitors thronged Dataran Karnival Stadium Shah Alam on Feb 3-6 to take part in the Boom Festival 2023, organised by Pertubuhan Penggerak Alam (PEPA).
There were various activities to keep the large crowd busy, including a P. Ramlee movie screening.
Celebrities such as LOKO and influencers Dak Ajim and Dak Ayam kept the visitors entertained.
PEPA chairman Lizarwarty Mohd Dalal said the automotive-centric fair was the first of its kind held by the non-governmental organisation.
"The festival was intended to gather people through activities involving cars and bikes in a controlled environment and promote PEPA. We may organise it again at a different location," she added.
On Saturday, enthusiasts witnessed the Myvi Nation 2023 Vol 1 gathering involving more than 1,000 Perodua Myvis.
The autoshow was divided into several categories: standard modified, modified, open VIP and Sirion standard and modified.
There was also a competition where each car was judged by its colour, engine, car adhesive and interior.
Mohd Affan Mohd Aris, the Myvi Club president and Myvi Nation 2023 coordinator, said the event saw the gathering of Myvi owners from across three generations for the first time.
"It (the event) strengthened the bond between Myvi owners regardless of their age."
The Malaysian Compact Car Association's Mini Super Kcar Megagath on Sunday saw compact cars with Japanese Domestic Market accessories.
More than 800 owners of various Perodua models (especially Kancil, Kenari, Myvi, Alza, Axia, Viva and Ativa) with differing styles competed against one another.
"The route given by PEPA makes it much easier for us to attract and meet more compact car enthusiasts in addition to sharing the same interests with new people," said Super Kcar Megagath programme chairman Mohamad Fadzli Abdul Rahman.
Motorbike enthusiasts gathered for the Retromania Bike event on Monday, which featured more than 300 retro models from the 1980s and 1990s.
Classics such as the Honda C70, Fame, Yamaha RD125, RX-S, Pasola, Aprilia 125 RS, Kawasaki K1, and the Suzuki Katana were among those on display.
