Marks & Spencer to open 7th outlet in Malaysia

JOHOR BARU: UK-based retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S), is looking at opening at least one more outlet in Malaysia by the end of this year following encouraging demand from local consumers.

M&S Malaysia assistant general manager Allicia Thau said the company had received many requests from the Southern and Northern region to open outlets there.

"We will definitely open more outlets but we have yet to choose the locations. At least one will be opened by end of this year," she told reporters at the media preview of the sixth M&S outlet in Malaysia at Komtar Johor Baru City Centre (JCBB) here today.

Also present was M&S Head of Franchise Business for Asia Olga Lyndovyk.

The new outlet at Komtar JBCC is also the first in Southern Malaysia.

Spanning over 10,000 sq ft of space, M&S Johor Baru offers high-quality British food and fashion including exclusive fashion collections for men and women, lingerie and shapewear and popular food hall, stocked with confectionaries and groceries.

The other five outlets are in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor namely Bandar Utama, Paradigm Mall, Sunway Pyramid, Suria KLCC and The Gardens Mall.

Established in 1884, there are currently more than 800 stores in the UK and over 450 international stores in 56 markets.-- Bernama
