KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's crude palm oil (CPO) production fell by 6.64 per cent to 1.897 million tonnes in September from 2.032 million tonnes in August, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said.
In a statement here today, it said palm kernel decreased to 483,176 tonnes while crude palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake production increased to 225,377 tonnes and 250,185 tonnes respectively.
CPO stocks increased by 3.93 per cent to 1.178 million tonnes in September compared with 1.133 million tonnes previously.
The MPOB said stocks of processed palm oil, however, fell by 0.86 per cent to 911,813 tonnes compared with 919,722 tonnes in August.
Total palm oil stocks increased by 1.79 per cent to 2.090 million tonnes in September against 2.053 million tonnes in August.
Palm oil export for the month saw an increase of 13.27 per cent to 1.628 million tonnes compared with 1.437 million tonnes in August, while export of palm kernel oil was at 104,760 tonnes, up 46.99 per cent.
The import of CPO in the month reviewed was at 2,670 tonnes, up by 5.81 per cent from 2,523 tonnes in August.
It said import of processed palm oil rose by 138 per cent to 35,821 tonnes from 15,051 tonnes in August, while the total import of palm oil was up by 119.02 per cent to 38,491 tonnes from 17,574 tonnes in August.
The average price of fresh fruit bunches per tonne decreased 5.76 per cent to RM21.12 tonne in September from RM22.41 in August.-- Bernama
