Floods: Johor recovers as Segamat houses 58 evacuees

JOHOR BARU: Segamat is the only district in Johor that still has temporary flood relief centres catering to flood evacuees.

This latest development follows the closure of the only Batu Pahat temporary flood relief centre as at 8pm today.

According to the Johor National Security Council (NSC), all flood evacuees in Batu Pahat have returned to their homes.

The state now has a total of 58 flood victims from 13 families in Segamat.

Earlier in the day, the figure state-wide was at 86.

A Johor NSC spokesman said the centres in Segamat are in the Buloh Kasap and Gemereh areas.

Johor has seen a continuous improvement in overall weather in most parts of the state for the past three days.

Besides the Segamat district, the spokesperson said that there are no other temporary flood relief centres open in other areas in the state as the weather in Johor continues to improve.

"There are no road closures or detours as all roads in the state are fully accessible to motorists," said the spokesperson.
