Johor flash floods: 496 victims housed at six relief centres

JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor remains concerning, with 496 evacuees from 133 families currently housed at six temporary relief centres in Kluang, Pontian, and Batu Pahat.

Johor State Secretary and State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said the number of victims evacuated decreased slightly compared to yesterday, which was 502 victims from 164 families displaced.

There are 235 victims in the two relief centres in Kluang, 244 victims housed at the three centres in Pontian, while 17 victims sought shelter at the Bau Pahat centre.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department reported warning levels at Sungai Sembrong in Batu Pahat, while three rivers namely Sungai Kesang in Tangkak, Sungai Lenik in Ladang Chaah and Sungai Jemaluang in Kampung Paya Dato, were at alert levels.
