Doctor detained for obstructing police work

KUALA LUMPUR: An intoxicated doctor, attached to a government hospital was detained after he tried to stop police raid party in an operation at a pub in Desa Sri Hartamas, here, yesterday.

The operation, conducted by Bukit Aman's Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) at 11.20pm Wednesday also saw 25 foreign women arrested as they were believed to be guest relation officers (GRO).

The operation was led by Inspector Razali Md Kassim after about a week of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

"We have detained 25 women comprising of 17 Filipinos, seven Thais and two Myanmars aged between 20 and 30.

"They were believed to have offered sex services to their customers for a fee from RM200," Razali said after the operation.

Check on the premises revealed the pub was using a punch-card system which indicated the foreign women were employed by them and their working hours were between 5pm and 2am.

The women however did not have valid working permits.

Police also arrested a cashier and manager of the premises to assist investigation.
