KUALA LUMPUR: Strong winds and rough seas in the waters of Samui, Tioman, Bunguran, Reef South and Kuching are expected to continue until Tuesday.
In a statement today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said the strong Northeasterly winds of between 50 and 60 km per hour with waves up to 4.5 metres were dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities including fishing and ferry services.
The department also gave warnings of similar strong winds and rough seas over the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, East Johor and Sarawak, which were expected to continue until Tuesday.
In addition, the coastal areas of the four peninsula states are also vulnerable to sea level rise.
The department also said that Northeasterly winds of between 40 and 50 km per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres can be expected in the waters off Sabah (Interior, West Coast and Kudat districts) and Labuan up to next Tuesday. The strong winds and rough seas are dangerous for sea sports and recreational activities and to small crafts. – BERNAMA
