Massive jam due to Jalan Kuching crash (with video)

KUALA LUMPUR: At least three people were injured in an accident involving a car, a van and three motorcycles in Jalan Kuching today.

The fate of two others, however, could not be ascertained as they fled the scene of the 8.30am accident which caused traffic to be backed up for two hours.

Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the vehicles involved were a Honda Civic, a Nissan Vanette, a Yamaha Ego and two Honda Waves.

He said the driver of the Civic was headed towards Kepong when he was believed to have lost control of the vehicle which jumped the median and smashed into the Vanette which was coming from the opposite direction.

Nadzri said the impact of the crash caused the van to catch fire while the three motorcyclists following behind skidded and crashed.

“The driver of the Honda Civic is missing while the van driver suffered from concussion and injuries to his right leg,” he said.

The Yahama Ego rider suffered a broken left arm and injuries to his right arm and feet.

Of the two Wave riders, the injuries to one have yet to be ascertained, while the other had fled the scene.

Nadzri added the accident was being investigated under section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
