KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will not hesitate to take action against any of its ministry staff or teachers if found guilty of wrongdoings in the disappearance of the seven Orang Asli students.
Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said his ministry was still awaiting the full report from the police on the matter.
"The police are still conducting their investigations into this.
"If at all, that the teachers or ministry staff had done wrong, we will not hesitate to take action."
Kamalanathan said this in response to claims that the school, SK Pos Tohoi, had only informed of the children's disappearance to their parents two days after the incident happened.
On August 23, seven pupils from SK Pos Tohoi - six girls and a boy are aged between seven and 11, were believed to have fled into a nearby jungle because they feared punishment for swimming in a river without permission.
Authorities found only two survivors - identified as Norieen Yakob, 10 and Mirsudial Aluj, 11 - on Friday, both severely malnourished and weakened.
