KUALA LUMPUR: Former vocalist of the 90's Malay pop rock band Ukays, Amir, or known as 'Amir Ukays' who was detained for possessing an imitation pistol yesterday had been released on police bail.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R Munusamy, said the 36-year-old singer was released at 5pm yesterday pending a report to be completed and handed over to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further actions.
"The AG's Chambers will decide whether the suspect will be brought to court or not," he said.
It was reported that a team of policemen who were making their rounds around the Kg Chubadak area here had spotted a Proton Gen-2 parked at the roadside with a Walther CP99 gun on the passenger’s seat.
The former Ukays vocalist was then detained and remanded for a day to facilitate investigation.
