Johor police to check claim on drug-mixed vape liquids in the state

JOHOR BARU: The Johor police will investigate a claim by a state executive council member that vape users in Johor were mixing the vape liquids with drugs.

State Narcotics Investigations Department chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkifli Ali said the matter, which had been revealed by Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat on Saturday would be looked into.

"There are no reports of such cases so far with the Johor police. However, the Johor police narcotics investigation department has contacted Datuk Ayub and he has shared information which we will investigate," said Zulkifli.

Ayub had said on Saturday that there were vape users in Johor who would mix the vape juice with drugs such as syabu, ganja and ketum juice.

He had said information on the drug mixtures had been obtained from enforcement agencies such as the National Anti-Drug Agency and National Association for the Prevention of Drug Abuse (Pemadam).

Ayub also said that the state health department conducted checks on eights premises selling vape products state-wide last Thursday, and seized 616 bottles of flavoured vape juice worth more than RM23,000 containing nicotine, which is a controlled substance under the Poisons Act 1952.
