Interior designer fatally stabbed 20 times in apartment

PETALING JAYA: An interior designer was found dead with 20 stab wounds on his body at an apartment in Persiaran Meranti, Bandar Sri Damansara, Petaling Jaya, early this morning.

District police chief ACP Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said they received a report regarding the incident at 1am from the victim's neighbour.

He said the neighbour contacted the police after hearing a heated argument between the victim and another individual at around 11pm.

"The complainant said they had not seen their neighbour leave the house after the argument and decided to contact the police.

"Officers from the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters arrived at the scene and discovered the victim was dead allegedly from being stabbed by an unidentified individual," Shahrulnizam said in a statement.

He added that the victim was identified as a 36-year-old Malaysian.

"Initial investigations estimate that there were 20 stab wounds on various parts of the victim's body, with five stab wounds on the left rib, which are believed to have caused his death.

"Six other stab wounds were found on the head, and nine on both wrists," Shahrulnizam said.

He added that checks revealed the victim, who worked as a part-time interior designer, lived alone in the house, which he had purchased last year.

"The police are conducting further investigations, and efforts to trace the suspect are underway.

"We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist the police in their investigation," Shahrulnizam said.

"The victim's body has been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," Shahrulnizam said.
