KUALA LUMPUR: The Medical Physics Subgroup of Institute of Physics, Malaysia and Universiti Malaya will be holding an international imaging physics workshop at Armada Hotel, Petaling Jaya, on From Nov 11 to Nov 14.
The workshop is organised in collaboration with the International Scientific Exchange Programme of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) — a scientific, educational, and professional society representing over 8,000 medical physicists in the United States and elsewhere.
This four-day comprehensive workshop will be attended by to medical imaging professionals; including the radiologists, oncologists, medical physicists, medical dosimetrists, radiographers, technologists, as well as researchers in diagnostic, nuclear and oncologic imaging.
Held for the first time in Malaysia after Thailand in 2013, the workshop is going to host six world-leading medical physicists, including AAPM president Professor John Boone, who is also the vice-chair of radiology and biomedical engineering at University of California, Davis, as well as three speakers from the Health Ministry.
The theme for this workshop is “Building Foundations for Sound Clinical Practice”.
This workshop is also an event to celebrate the third International Day of Medical Physics, which falls on Nov 7 annually, to commemorate the birthday of Marie Curie, the pioneer of radioactive research.
