Azmin Ali is now a Datuk Seri

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali will be conferred the 'Datuk Seri' title in conjunction with the 70th birthday of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today.

Azmin will be the sole recipient of the First Class Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (S.P.M.S) award. He will be among 75 recipients of Selangor state medals and awards.

Leading the list of recipients will be state Tithe Board (LZS) Chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.

Syed Anwar, who is also DRB-Hicom Bhd chairman, receives the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.II) award.

Member of Selangor Royal Council, who is also Orang Besar Istana Tengku Datuk Paduka Putra Alhaj Tengku Azman Shah Alhaj, is the recipient of the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.S.I.S)(First Class), which carries the title ‘Datuk Setia’ for men and ‘Datin Paduka Setia’ for women.

Other recipients of the S.S.I.S award are the Malaysia Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh and Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.

Heading the list of eight recipients of the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S)(Second Class), which carries the title ‘Datuk’ for men and ‘Datin Paduka’ for women is Selangor Syarie Chief Judge Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Other recipients of the D.P.M.S award are Selangor Legal Adviser Datuk Nik Shuhaimi Nik Sulaiman, Oxford University Fellow and Lecturer Datuk Dr Afifi Al-Akiti, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre Deputy Dean (Graduate and International Affairs) Dr Zainul Rashid Mohamad Razi, Selangor Health Department Director Dr S. Balachandran, Sepang Municipal Council President Puasa Md Taib, Selangor Urban and Rural Planning Department Director Mohd Zaki Ibrahim and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazir Abdul Razak.

Ten people receive the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (D.S.I.S.) (Second Class) which carries the title ‘Datuk’ for men and ‘Datin Paduka’ for women.

They are Malaysian Deputy Permanent Representative to United Nations Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah Alhaj, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Fleet Deputy Commander First Admiral Ong Thiam Hock, Universiti Teknologi Mara Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industrial Network, Community & Alumni) Profesor Norsaadah Ismail and Health Ministry Public Dental Health Specialist Datin Dr Nooral Zeila Junid.

Also Selangor National Audit Department Director Ang Nai Har, Universiti Putra Malaysia Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Science Profesor Dr Abdul Jalil Nordin, Employees Provident Fund Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Investment) Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd Group Managing Director Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz, MCT Konsortium Bhd Director Cheah See Yeong and United Malacca Bhd Chairman Tan Siok Choo, who is also son of former MCA president, the late Tun Tan Siew Sin.

Six people receive the Darjah Kebesaran Setia Mahkota Selangor (S.M.S.) award, RMN Education and Training Commanding Base Chief of Staff Captain P.Pulendren, Royal Malaysian Air Force Joint Forces Base Contingency Branch Director Colonel Mohamed Nazri Dashah, Klang Selatan District Police Chief ACP Azman Abd Razak, Selangor State Development Corporation Central Region Development Controller Azmi Adnan, Selangor Royal Council Secretary Hanafisah Jais and Sunway Group Managing Director (Group Strategy & Corporate Development) Sarena Cheah Yean Tih.

Eight other people receive the Darjah Kebesaran Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.I.S) award, including the painter of Birds of Malaysia collection, Jaafar Taib, while 15 others receive the Darjah Kebesaran Ahli Mahkota Selangor (A.M.S.). medal.

Sixteen individuals receive the Darjah Kebesaran Ahli-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (A.I.S) award, and seven others receive the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (B.P.C) medal. -- BERNAMA
