Manhunt on for handcuffed teen who escaped Pekan police station

PEKAN: Pahang police have launched a massive manhunt in the state for a 19-year-old drug suspect who escaped from the Pekan police station here on Tuesday.

A police source said the suspect, hailing from Kedah, was earlier nabbed at the Pekan hospital about 7pm after a security guard spotted him acting suspiciously.

A police patrol team, acting on the guard’s alert, picked up the teen and brought him to the district police station for questioning.

However, as his hands were being cuffed, the teen dashed out of the police station and ran towards the rear of the building before disappearing.

It was learnt that police have set up road blocks and were in contact with the teen's family to locate his whereabouts.

An image of the suspect has been making its rounds on social media reminding members of the public to be on the lookout.
