KUALA LUMPUR: The Fire and Rescue Department today fished out a body of a man, believed to be a staff working for a local newspaper company, from a lake in Petaling Jaya.
The body was discovered following an emergency call placed by a passer-by alerting police of the discovery.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said police did not find any identification card at the scene but found a staff pass of a local newspaper company, with the name “Clement” at the scene.
Checks revealed the victim's wife had lodged a missing person report on Wednesday.
Selangor fire and rescue assistant director chief Sani Harul said the department received a call on the incident at 5.17pm and nine rescuers from Section 7 fire station were deployed to the scene.
“The victim, in his 40s was discovered at 7.36pm and was pronounced dead by the medical team,” he said.
The body was handed over to the police and sent to the nearest hospital for post-mortem.
