Curiosity turns woman into drug addict

GOPENG: It was curiosity and a desire to experiment that lured a woman with four children to do drugs since eight years ago.

The woman, who wished to be known as Rosalinda, 32, said she and her husband were addicted to morphine.

“But now he (husband) is in prison, serving time for drug addiction and possession.

“Since he was sent to prison, I use the RM400 financial aid from the Social Welfare Department to support the children and also buy the drug,” she said when met by reporters,

Rosalinda was with her six-month-old baby when she was detained by the National Anti-Drug Agency in an operation in Kampar yesterday. Her oldest child 14 years old and the other two are aged five and nine.

She said because of her drug addiction, she was shunned by her siblings and neighbours.

During the operation, the AADK also detained 22 men and another three women, age between 17 and 25, for suspected drug addicts, during raids at several houses used as drug dens in villages in the Kampar district. --Bernama
