KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning composer Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan is in critical condition after suffering from a stroke early this morning.
The 57-year-old who also has diabetes and high blood pressure was rushed to the hospital at 2am today, in an ambulance.
He is currently in the intensive care unit of the Selayang Hospital.
Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd artiste and repertoire manager Sham Amir Hussain who is also a close friend of Adnan's said that both the composer's kidneys and lungs have been infected and he is now on life support.
“According to the doctors, he can still hear but unable to talk. There is not much that we can do at the moment except to pray for his recovery,” said Sham, when contacted by the NST.
Adnan has been instrumental in turning a nobody into a household name. His compositions like Jerat Percintaan and Bunga Bunga Cinta performed by Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Misha Omar respectively won Best Song at the 1996 and 2003 TV3’s Anugerah Juara Lagu.
His strength lies in sentimental ballads where he has written numerous chart busters and performed by the likes of Dayang Nurfaizah, Fauziah Latiff, Ziana Zain and Liza Hanim.
