Penang Chinese Chambers of Commerce urges young entrepreneurs to utilise halal e-commerce

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) has called upon young entrepreneurs to expand halal e-commerce entrepreneurship in Malaysia.

To help Malaysia maintain its status as a leading halal hub, PCCC president Datuk Seri Choot Ewe Seng, said the halal e-commerce industry can help young entrepreneurs in Malaysia to market their products locally and on the global platform.

“Malaysia has already implemented it through Aladdin Group of Companies. If it is expanded worldwide, Malaysia stands to become the pioneer in launching a halal and Syariah-compliant e-marketplace,” he said.

He said halal e-commerce is on the verge of being adopted by other Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

"This is a golden opportunity for young entrepreneurs to develop businesses by providing authentic and premium halal-certified products and services online," he said.

It was reported last month that a growing number of middle-class Muslims are spending more than USD100 billion a year on online shopping.
