Digi's female employees now get 6-months fully paid maternity leave

If you're job hunting, DiGi should probably be on top of your list. The telecommunications company recently announced a new policy that allows its female employees to take six-months fully paid maternity leave.

The new policy, which has been in effect since Jan 1 this year, is the first of its kind in Malaysia and is believed to have a major impact on women working at DiGi.

DiGi's chief executive officer, Albern Murty said, “We are extremely proud to institute the new global six-month standard maternity leave here in Malaysia. It is our goal to attract and retain the best talent, male or female, and we are confident that the revised maternity leave policy will make Digi not only a very attractive place to work, but also a place in which women can build careers, continue to fill the ranks of our leadership and play a key role in supporting their families.”

The telco also stressed that numerous studies have shown that diversity, particularly when it comes to gender, has a direct impact on organisational innovation and performance.

The telco's current employment statistics show that 45 per cent of its workforce are women while the company's Board has 43 per cent female representation, exceeding the nation's target of 30 per cent women participation in Boards of public listed companies.
