KUCHING: Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian retained the Ba’kelalan seat with a bigger vote majority after polling 2,858 votes against Barisan Nasional’s Willie Liau who garnered 2,320 votes.
Baru Bian won by a 538 vote majority in a constituency where 5,229 ballot papers were issued although there are 7,375 registered voters.
In the 2011 state election Baru Bian beat his nephew Willie Liau by a 473 vote majority.
Willie Liau, the Ba’kelalan SPDP Youth chief is among five candidates from the party, contesting in the election. -- BERNAMA
