KUALA TERENGGANU: Six Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) division heads, including four of the party's elected representatives, successfully defended their positions in the party elections held today.
The four elected representatives who retained their posts are Kijal state assemblyman Datuk Razali Idris, who will continue as Marang division chief; Hulu Terengganu member of Parliament Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu division chief); Seberang Takir state assemblyman Khazan Che Mat (Kuala Nerus division chief); and Permaisuri state assmeblyman Mohd Yusop Majid (Setiu division chief).
The other two who defended their positions are Badrulhisham Mohamed @ Shafie (Kuala Terengganu) and Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail (Dungun).
Two newcomers who won the secured their seats as Bersatu division heads are in the Besut and Kemaman divisions.
Bersatu Besut division deputy chief Datuk Wan Mohd Ariff Rashiddin Wan Jusoh was declared the winner unopposed after the incumbent, Mohd Husaimi Hussin, stepped down to focus on contesting for a position in the party's supreme council.
Wan Mohd Ariff is also the state assemblyman for Hulu Besut.
Meanwhile, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad won uncontested for the Kemaman division. He replaces the late Datuk Seri Wan Marzuki Wan Sembok who died last December.
A state party polls committee (JPPN) spokesperson confirmed that six out of eight Bersatu division heads successfully retained their seats as no individuals submitted nomination forms for those positions.
He said there was previously an individual who submitted a nomination form to contest the Dungun division chief post, but withdrew citing reasons to avoid division within the party.
"The complete results of the top positions in the eight divisions at the state level will be sent to the central party polls committee," he said.
