IPOH: A primary school canteen here has been ordered to close for two weeks beginning yesterday after 29 of its pupils came down with food poisoning.
In the 1pm incident on Monday, the pupils, aged between 11 and 12, were taken ill after consuming curry.
They were sent to the Greentown health clinic and Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment.
However, no pupils were warded for treatment.
State Health director Datuk Dr Juita Ghazalie said the district health department swung into action as soon as it received a report on the matter.
"Among the symptoms suffered by the pupils included stomach ache, dizzy spells and vomiting," she said.
"We have taken several food samples from the canteen, including the curry," she added.
