HULU SELANGOR: A female foreign student suffered a broken back bone when she was robbed and shoved out from a taxi in Bukit Sentosa, here today.
The incident is believed to have happened during the wee hours when she took a cab to return home from an entertainment outlet in Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent R. Supramaniam said the victim, believed to be drunk, was found lying inside a drain at Jalan Jenjarum 1C, Bukit Beruntung about 9.30am.
He said the cab driver took the victim's handbag which contained RM100 and her mobile phone before pushing her out from the vehicle at the scene.
"The victim said she tried to run after the taxi, but failed as the driver had sped off.
"Suddenly, the taxi returned to location and the driver shoved her into a drain," he said.
The victim was helped by members of the public, who notified police and the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.
An ambulance then took her to the hospital, where checks revealed that she sustained a broken spine.
