Movida attack: Factory operator charged with supporting terror act [VIDEO]

The 24-year-old, clad in a green T-shirt, nodded to indicate that he understood the charge read to him before magistrate Mariam Maran Abdullah.

Unrepresented Jonius Ondie was accused of providing support to terror acts with the intention to further an ideology to threaten the people in Malaysia via messaging application Telegram.

He allegedly committed the offence in a house at Jalan Sg Condong 3, Bandar Armada Putra in Pulau Indah here between March 25 and July 1 this year.

The accused from Sabah was charged under Section 130J(1)(b) of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 30 years and is liable to fine, if found guilty.

His case will be up for mention on Sept 7. Deputy public prosecutor Syed Farid Syed Ali prosecuted.

On July 25, Jondius Ondie and another accused, unemployed Imam Wahyudin Karjono, 20, pleaded guilty at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court to attempted murder by hurling and exploding a hand grenade, causing injuries to eight people.

They were charged with nine counts, including one for possession of a hand grenade.

The offences were committed at Movida Boulevard Sdn Bhd, Lot G2 & G3, Ground Floor, IOI Boulevard, Jalan Kenari 5, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, at 2am on June 28.

Sept 21 has been fixed for sentencing.
