KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has purchased 14 new Standby Mobile Diesel generator sets worth RM12 million to help minimise power interruptions affecting users in the state.
SESB has so far received seven mobile generator sets from its supplier, WZS PowerGen Sdn Bhd, and expected them to be in operation by next month.
Its senior general manager (Asset Management) Muhammad Nazri Pazil said users could expect faster response time to incidents of power disruptions once all the mobile generator sets have been put in place.
“Each of the mobile generator sets has a power capacity of 500kW and able cater to about 300 homes. At the moment, we will focus on Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Labuan.
“This is part of our initiative to ensure minimal interruptions and in the event of a power disruption, we will be able to go to the ground and provide faster response to our customers,” he said at the handing over ceremony at SESB compound, here.
Also present were WZS PowerGen Sdn Bhd executive director Dominic How and WZS PowerGen Sdn Bhd chief technical officer Marizan Nor Basirun.
Apart from the five areas mentioned, the mobile generator sets would also be placed at several identified critical and strategic areas such as Lahad Datu, Beaufort, Keningau, Tuaran, and Kota Marudu.
Nazri added that priority of the power supply would be given to critical locations such as hospitals, airports, and government official events.
