WISMAR (Germany): Malaysia will see to it that those responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 will be punished, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.
Commenting on the findings of international investigators released earlier today, Najib said Malaysia will call for a meeting with Australia, Ukraine and the Netherlands to decide on the next course of action.
He told Malaysian media here that justice must be done or seen to be done.
"We owe it to the families," he said.
Najib is on a three-day official visit to Germany, his first as prime minister.
Earlier today, Dutch-led criminal investigators said they have solid evidence that MH17 was shot down by a BUK missile moved into eastern Ukraine from Russia.
It said communications intercepts showed that pro-Moscow rebels had called for deployment of the mobile surface-to-air weapon, and reported its arrival in rebel-controlled areas of eastern Ukraine.
Investigators said that their findings suggest that after the launch, the missile was returned to Russia.
MH17, a Boeing 777-200ER flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.
The tragedy claimed 298 lives.
