KUALA LUMPUR: An unexpected good run in form saw Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing claim their second title this year with their success in the mixed doubles final at the Thailand Open today.
The national No 2 were clearly on song as they wrapped up the match 21-16, 22-20 in just 39 minutes against Hong Kong's Tang Chung Man-Tse Ying Suet.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing last won the Vietnam Open GP in July and have reached six finals in total this year since being paired last November.
The Malaysian World No 19 can also expect to move up a few more rungs when the Badminton World Federation (BWF) update their world ranking on Thursday.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing pocketed US$9,480 (approximately RM40,000) in prize money, while Chung Man-Ying Suet settled for US$4,560 (approximately RM19,000).
Meanwhile, independent shuttler Zulfadli Zulkiffli claimed his second senior title following a 16-21, 21-19, 21-10 win over India's Siril Verma at the Russian Open GP yesterday.
Zulfadli, who won the Brazil Open in August, is now ranked No 39 in the world but should move up the list on Thursday as well.
