KUALA LUMPUR: Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos was released on police bail today.
He was released about 5pm, greeted by around 50 Red Shirt supporters in front of the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh confirmed the release.
Shortly after his release, Jamal declared all-out war against Bersih 5.
“The arrest has not weakened me. After this, I will deploy the Red Shirt movement nationwide and declare war against Bersih 5," he said.
Jamal said his arrest showed double standards, as police have yet to detain any Bersih 5 leaders despite numerous reports lodged against them.
“The arrest was unfair. Although I am aware police are responsible for keeping the peace and maintaining order in the country, what happened to me was double standards.
“Imagine my wife's feeling, especially my children when they see their father being arrested just after coming out of the arrival gate at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” he said.
Jamal also questioned how Bersih is allowed to continue their roadshows in several states without getting arrested and handcuffed, like what happened to him.
“It is unfair how they are being treated fairly. None of then got arrested despite holding four demonstrations in trying to topple a government elected by the people.
“During my arrest, Bersih were happy. Some of them even claimed that I tested positive for drugs. They are liars and only want to influence the people to go against the government,” he said.
He also announced that the Red Shirts will hold a large-scale assembly at Dataran Merdeka on Nov 5.
About 300,000 participants, said Jamal, are expected to attend the assembly to express their dissatisfaction against Bersih.
