SEREMBAN: DAP member of parliament for Seremban Anthony Loke Siew Fook has been picked up by a team of policemen from Bukit Aman from a hotel in Kuala Lumpur a few hours ago.
When contacted, Loke said : "Yes confirm, I have been detained and I am now with the police.
"I don't know why I am here and what for.... I am giving my statement now," Loke told the New Straits Times before cutting off his line.
It remains unclear why Loke was detained but a local newsportal said he is being detained under the Sedition Act 1948 pertaining to his speech made at the Pakatan Harapan Convention last Saturday.
In his speech, Loke had called for the removal of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to restore the country's sovereignty.
However he said that he is unaware which part of the speech which is found to be problematic.
He is accompanied by lawyer and MP for Bukit Gelugor Ramkarpal Singh.
