Police detain suspect in Seremban car vandalism case

SEREMBAN: A man suspected to be involved in a car vandalism case on July 10 was detained by police yesterday evening.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 32-year-old man was arrested at about 2.30pm near Port Dickson.

"On July 10, we received a report from a woman that her Perodua Alza parked at the location was damaged.

"The woman claimed that her windshield and side mirrors shattered, while her front and rear wipers were broken," he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Hatta said the incident was caught on the car's dashboard camera, and had shown a man, believed to be local, doing the act.

"The police identified the suspect from the video and was arrested in Port Dickson yesterday evening.

"The police confiscated a blue t-shirt allegedly worn by the suspect during the incident, and we will record his statement."

The case, he added, was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code. The remand application would be made today.

It was previously reported that the police were tracking down a man who broke the wipers, side mirrors, and windshield of a car on Jalan Dataran Sentral 2, next to Seremban Gateway.

The video captured by the car's dashboard camera went viral on social media.
