Syndicate allegedly selling SPM questions, no Education Ministry staff involved

TAIPING: The Education Ministry today has confirmed that none of its staff were involved with the so-called syndicate allegedly selling this year's Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination papers via social media.

Its Deputy Minister II Datuk Chong Sin Woon said based on the report and initial investigations, police said that there was no indication pointing towards link between the ministry and the syndicate.

"However, the probe is still ongoing, we hear that they (police) will proceed with the second phase investigation before completing the investigation paper," said Chong after attending the SJKC Hua Lian 2 Open Day.

He however declined to elaborate when asked to explain what he meant by 'second phase investigation'.

On Nov 13, a Chinese language daily reported the existence of a syndicate allegedly selling SPM examination papers on social media websites.

The ministry in a statement had said that it would take stern action against anyone found to be leaking the SPM questions.
