Perak's Bagan Datoh is now Bagan Datuk

IPOH: Perak’s Bagan Datoh district is now officially known as Bagan Datuk.

The decision to change the spelling was made at the state executive council meeting on Nov 22.

Perak State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan confirmed that the change in the spelling was in line with its status as the 12th district in Perak.

Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is set to visit Bagan Datuk on Jan 9 for the official announcement.

The notification of the name change was circulated to all exco members, Members of Parliament, state and federal departments directors, statutory body chief executives and presidents of local authorities.

The letter, dated Dec 22 and signed by Deputy State Secretary (Management) Datuk Abu Bakar Said representing the State Secretary, had requested for the new spelling to be used by respective departments and agencies.
