KUALA LUMPUR: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing person in Broga Hill has entered its sixth day.
The victim, Muhd Azarul Mukhriz Abd Rahman Umur, 20, went missing on Sunday while hiking with 11 people, comprising adults and children.
The hiking team only noticed that Azarul was missing when they arrived back at their starting point at about 4pm, said Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan.
“As of yesterday, 117 people, including police officers, Fire and Rescue officers (Bomba), Mountain Search and Rescue members (Mosars), and Orang Asli volunteers have been helping with the search and rescue operation.
“The operation to find Azarul (began) on Sunday,” he said in a statement today.
Othman denied claims that the operation has been suspended, and that only the Mosars team is continuing with the SAR.
“The rescue team has only closed the control centre at the location. The SAR operations will be continued though other methods,” he said.
Othman added that authorities will not stop volunteers from joining in the SAR operation.
