KOTA BARU: A cooking oil packaging company in Kelantan has introduced a 2kg economy packet to allow consumers, especially those from the low-income group to get value for their money.
Link Holders Packaging Industries Sdn Bhd director Charles Gan said the new packet, launched recently, was believed to be the first in the country.
"This new packaging which is somewhat similar the refill package of other items in the supermarket and is meant to be more convenient and not easily torned. The price is also reasonable," he said.
Gan said for the time being, the economy packet is only for 2kg packet and will be made avalaible soon in almost all the stores and hypermarkets in the state.
"We decided to introduce this new packaging because we realise that the 1kg subsidised cooking oil stocks will run out very quickly due to high demand.
"Therefore, we hope consumers from this income bracket will start turning to this new packet. This is our way of helping the government tackle the panic-buying instances." said Gan.
