KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the 60th Merdeka (National Day) celebration this year, the government will be launching a 'Negaraku' (My Country) initiative to instil a sense of love for the country.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in a statement today said the 'Negaraku' initiative was aimed at igniting the spirit of patriotism in the people, set aside any differences and to stand united in achieving the goal to develop Malaysia into a more prosperous and successful country.
"Various programmes and events will be held in collaboration with the ministries and government agencies to ensure the success of this initiative that will involve people from all walks of life," he said.
The prime minister said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak will be in charge of the programmes. - BERNAMA
