MALACCA: The second phase of the Xinyi Energy Smart factory being built here will generate 600 job opportunities for local and foreign workers.
China's Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Huang Huikang, said construction of the second phase will begin tomorrow.
"Investments from China have helped create job opportunities for locals.
"Taking Xinyi as an example, 1,600 jobs were created here since the launch of the first phase of the factory," he said after visiting the Xinyi Energy Smart and Xinyi Solar factory in Lipat Kajang here today.
Dr Huang refuted claims by several parties that Chinese companies are stealing locals' rice bowls.
"In fact, we have created more job opportunities for locals, and have helped advance sectors Malaysia was behind in, such as the glass production sector.
"Take Xinyi again as an example. We are bringing world-class technology, and we help to produce quality glass which Malaysia had to import previously," he said.
Dr Huang added that the establishment of Xinyi in Malaysia has not only helped accommodate the local market, but also Asean, the Middle East and European countries.
Huang is later scheduled to visit the Melaka Gateway project and Wing Tai Malaysia Berhad in Jaya 99 here today.
