PITAS: Classes resumed as usual for three primary schools here as yesterday's flood waters began to subside.
The schools which were reopened are SK Pinggan-Pinggan, SK Kesegaan, and SK Dallas, while two others - SK Kusilad and SK Sosop - remained closed.
The five schools were yesterday forced to shut down when floods hit several low-lying villages, cutting access to several areas following a downpour.
The affected villages are Kampung Layang, Kampung Solimpodon Darat, Kampung Solimpodon Laut, Kampung Sumbilingan and Kampung Dandun Darat.
As of 8.40am, Sabah Civil Defence director Colonel Muliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said the reading for Sungai Bengkoka exceeded the warning level (3.00 metres) but remained at 3.64 metres since yesterday.
"Sungai Kebatasan remained at the warning level (of 5.50 metres) after it dropped from 5.70 metres.
"It is drizzling at the moment and we will continue to monitor and mobilise our personnel to the affected areas," he said, adding that no evacuation centres have been set up for now.
