Former political party branch leader accused of Penang sex crime

GEORGE TOWN: A former party branch leader of a Penang parliamentary constituency has been accused of committing a sexual crime last week.

The man, in his 50's, is alleged to have sexually pleasured himself in the presence of a waitress at a car park at Lebuh Pantai here early last Thursday.

The man had become drunk while at an entertainment outlet here and later dragged out the 21-year-old waitress before committing the indecent act.

She lodged a police report the next day.

Northeast District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar confirmed the report and said that police are investigating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.

"The man has been called to have his statement taken today," he said in a statement.
